buhl-paperform wins the German Award for Sustainability Projects 2024
We are very pleased and proud that buhl-paperform GmbH has once again been honoured with the prestigious German Award for Sustainability Projects. This time, our pioneering project, the innovative ‘three-weather site’ production location at the Kalteiche Technology Park in Haiger, was honoured.
Our three-weather site was developed with the aim of efficiently utilising all available resources on the site and integrating them into the production processes. This concept stands for maximum efficiency with minimum environmental impact and demonstrates our deep commitment to the circular economy. Thanks to this holistic approach, we were able to convince the jury and prevail against 342 other nominees.
The prize is awarded by the German Institute for Service Quality, the news channel ntv and DUP Unternehmer-Magazin. A high-calibre jury from the worlds of business, science and the media assesses the projects with regard to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The aim of the competition is to drive forward the transformation of the economy and recognise innovative companies and initiatives that provide inspiration for sustainable business.
Our three-weather site enables the use of natural resources such as rainwater, drainage water, sun and wind in the production processes, which minimises the environmental impact and optimises production processes. In addition, the waste heat generated during the production processes is used to heat the production and storage areas as well as the administration area - a further step towards the sustainable use of resources.
Thanks to the strategic location of the new site, existing water and energy sources can be optimally utilised. All available CO₂-neutral resources on our property are fully tapped. We also use waste paper from regional household waste collections and commercial waste as a raw material in order to shorten delivery routes and reduce emissions.
The investment of over 20 million euros in this project emphasises our commitment to innovation, sustainability and efficiency. We are proud to be leading the way in the packaging industry and beyond with our three-weather site and contributing to the transformation of the economy.
